Trenching: Trenching should be limited to the width required for pipe installation and at least 12 inches below the maximum projected freeze line. It is also recommended that CPVC pipes be run in metal or concrete casings when installed below surfaces subject to heavy loads or constant traffic, such as busy road and rail tracks. Pipes are buried 12-18 inches underground in high traffic areas, and 30-36 inches underground in high-traffic areas.

Trench Preparation: If there are large rocks or other obstructions in the trench bed, cover with rammed earth or cushion to protect the pipes.
